Get a Two Together Railcard for you and the person you travel with most, and you'll both enjoy 1/3 off rail fares when you get away together - which is more fun anyway.

It's not just a card for couples either - you can get one with a best friend, or one of the family.  Together you can save on practical everyday journeys, fun day trips or exciting weekend breaks - as many times as you like.  Here's what you need to know:
  • The Railcard costs just £30 - that’s £15 each.  So after a couple of trips, the card will have paid for itself.
  • Your Two Together Railcard will save you both 1/3 off a wide range of tickets.
  • The 1/3 off applies to most adult fares throughout Great Britain - in fact the only time you can't use your Two Together Railcard is morning peak times.
  • To buy a Two Together Railcard you'll need to be aged 16 years or over. Buy your Railcard online and it will be delivered  free within 5 working days.  Alternatively, you can also buy your Railcard at a station.

Two Together Railcard has Time Restrictions
  • The only time you can't use your Two Together Railcard is at morning peak times, ie before 0930 Monday to Friday.
  • Remember, on weekends and public holidays this restriction doesn't apply, so you can get out and start having adventures whatever time you like.

Two Together Railcard discounted tickets are accepted on Sleeper services, providing you board the train before 0430.  Discounts are not available on Sleeper berths or travel/berth inclusive tickets.

You can save yourself time by buying your Two Together Railcard online . The only things you'll need are:
  • Two separate digital photos (one for each person named on the Railcard) saved to your computer
  • A debit or credit card
What happens next

We aim to dispatch your Railcard within one working day of you ordering it, but it's best to allow up to five working days for your Railcard to arrive. It'll be sent out free of charge by First Class post, but if you prefer, you have the option to pay for Special Delivery.

You’ll need the physical Railcard with you to be able to get a discount on your rail ticket, so be sure to leave enough time before your journey for your Railcard to reach you.  If you need to travel straightaway, you're better off buying a Two Together Railcard over the counter at your local staffed station.

At a staffed station ticket office
  • You can buy a Two Together Railcard at any staffed station ticket office or National Rail-licensed Travel Agent. You can do this on the day you are travelling.
  • If you're applying at a station for the first time, here's what you'll need to do:
  • Complete an application form - download the application form
  • Provide two separate passport-sized photos, one of yourself and one of the other named cardholder
  • Please note that Railcards can’t usually be bought at stations operated by London Underground but which also service some National Rail routes. The exceptions to this are: Harrow & Wealdstone, Kenton, South Kenton, North Wembley, Wembley Central, Stonebridge Park, Harlesden, Kensal Green Queens Park, Gunnersbury and Kew Gardens.

Renewing your Two Together Railcard
You can renew your Two Together Railcard when it's within one month of its expiry date.  Simply log in to your account , click Renew next to the Railcard you wish to renew, check all the details are correct, and then pay.  If you need to update any of the details you can do this by clicking on the appropriate edit button on the review page.

If we have your email address, we'll send you a reminder that your Railcard is due for renewal.  But remember, it's your responsibility to check that your Railcard is in date before buying or using Railcard discounted tickets.

If you didn't buy your Railcard online, you can still renew it online. 

Two Together Railcard Terms & Conditions

Conditions of issue and use of the Two Together Railcard and reduced priced tickets (‘discounted tickets’) bought with a Two Together Railcard.
  1. ATOC Ltd enters into a contract with You for the issue and use of the Two Together Railcard on behalf of the Train Companies. Reference to a ‘Train Company’ or the ‘Train Companies’ means those Train Companies which, pursuant to a franchise agreement, operate Passenger Railway Services in Great Britain. Any other licensed passenger train operators that may join the arrangement will accept the Two Together Railcard for travel on their services. References to ‘You’ and ‘Your’ mean the First named cardholder. References to ‘Railcard’ mean the Two Together Railcard.
  2. Both You and the Second named cardholder must sign the Railcard before use to show acceptance of all the conditions listed. The name and photo of the Second named cardholder must be provided at the time of purchase.
  3. The Railcard and tickets bought with the Railcard are not transferable and must not be given, loaned or resold to anyone else. Only the named cardholders can use the Railcard.
  4. Both tickets must be bought together and both named cardholders must be travelling together to enable discounted tickets to be used.
  5. Both named cardholders must be aged 16 or over.
  6. Railcards purchased online will incorporate photographs for You and the Second named cardholder. If You have a Railcard that does not incorporate your photographs, You must carry a separate Two Together Photocard containing a photograph of You and the Second named cardholder and You must present this in any circumstance where You present Your Railcard (buying tickets or travelling with reduced priced tickets).
  7. Tickets for Your journey should be purchased before boarding the train. When buying tickets in person from a member of staff either You or the Second named cardholder must show the Railcard. If You are buying online or from a ticket vending machine (TVM) You must declare that You have a valid Railcard by selecting the Two Together Railcard option.  This does not apply if:
  8. there was no ticket office at the station at which You began the journey or if the ticket office was closed, and there was no working ticket machine from which You could buy discounted tickets
  9. You have a disability which prevented You accessing ticket retailing facilities
  10. In these cases You will be able to use Your Railcard on train or at Your destination.
  11. You must carry Your Railcard with You on Your journey and when asked by rail staff, You must show a valid Railcard and tickets valid for the journey You are making. If You fail to do so, the Train Companies reserve the right to charge You and the Second named cardholder the full price Standard or First Class Single fare as appropriate for Your journey as if no tickets were purchased before starting the journey and in some cases a Penalty Fare.
  12. Discounts are not valid for travel from 04:30 – 09:29 hours, Monday to Friday, except on Public Holidays. For full details please enquire at a station ticket office before You travel, phone National Rail Enquiries on 03457 48 49 50.
  13. The Railcard will not be valid if it is damaged. The Train Companies do not undertake to replace damaged, lost or stolen Railcards, or to issue refunds on unused/unwanted Railcards, or to extend their validity.  Customers who have a Railcard issued by the online service may only request one replacement card. A £10 administration fee will be payable for the replacement of a damaged or lost Railcard. No fee will be charged for the replacement of a stolen Railcard provided You have a crime reference number/documentation issued by the Police.
  14. The Railcard and all tickets issued at a Railcard discount are issued subject to the National Rail Conditions of Carriage and the conditions listed here. Copies of the National Rail Conditions of Carriage are available online at
  15. The Railcard is not Your property and if requested must be handed in to a representative of any Train Company. In these cases the member of staff will give You written evidence that they have taken possession of the Railcard.
  16. The right is reserved to revise these conditions. The Train Companies will endeavour to give three months’ notice of any changes before they are due to come into effect.
Fraudulent use of Railcards and Railcard discounted tickets may lead to criminal prosecution.
